Spouses of International Students

Spouses or common-law partners of full-time international students studying at a post-secondary designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada can generally apply for an open work permit. This allows them to work for any employer in Canada without needing a job offer. The spouse or common-law partner must submit their own work permit application, but they can be submitted together online or at a Visa Application Centre.
