Manitoba PNP points calculator

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) remains one of Canada’s most distinct systems. To be nominated, you must first pass a 60-point eligibility threshold just to enter the pool. Once inside, you are ranked using a separate 1,000-point Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

Initial Eligibility: The 60-Point Grid

Before you can submit an EOI, you must score at least 60 out of 100 points across five factors. This is mandatory for the "Skilled Worker Overseas" stream.

EOI Ranking System (Max 1,000 Points)

Once you are in the pool, Manitoba uses a much larger grid to rank candidates for invitations. In early 2026, a major shift occurred: the Hospitality sector was removed from priority pilots, while 16 new Skilled Trades (like Aircraft Maintenance and Automotive Technicians) were added.

A. Core Factors (High Impact)

  • Language (Max 125): 25 points per band for CLB 8 or higher.

  • Age (Max 75): Max points for ages 21–45 (75 pts).

  • Work Experience (Max 175): 4+ years earns 75 points. A Manitoba License in a regulated trade adds +100 points.

  • Education (Max 125): Master’s or PhD (125 pts); one-year program (70 pts).

B. Connection & Manitoba Demand (The Deal-Breaker)

This is where most candidates win or lose. Without a connection, it is very difficult to be invited.

  • Ongoing Employment in MB: Having a long-term job offer after 6 months of work in MB gives you 500 points.

  • Close Relative in MB: 200 points.

  • Invitation under a Strategic Initiative: 500 points.

  • Regional Development: Choosing a destination outside of Winnipeg adds 50 points.

C. Risk Assessment (Negative Points)

Manitoba is unique because it penalizes you for ties to other provinces:

  • Work/Study in another province: -100 points.

  • Close relative in another province (and none in MB): -0 to -100 points.
