Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Programs (RNIP)

Pilot programs are special programs started by IRCC to meet the need of specific region or occupation or industry, these pilot programs come with closing dates also.

What Are Canadian Immigration Pilot Programs?

Canadian Immigration Pilot Programs are designed to help attract and retain skilled workers to immigrate to Canada through specialized pathways. These programs focus on areas with labor shortages, including regions that are underpopulated or facing specific workforce demands. For instance, the home support worker pilot program aims to bring in skilled caregivers to meet the needs of Canada’s aging population.

Such programs, like the pilot immigration program and the agri-food pilot program, help workers immigrate to Canada by offering permanent residence to those filling critical roles. The rural and northern immigration pilot and critical worker pilot program further ensure that workers settle in under-served communities, helping to boost local economies. These initiatives are key to encouraging people to come to Canada, as they offer unique opportunities to establish a fulfilling life in areas that need it most.

Humanitarian & Compassionate Grounds

The Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) grounds application is a provision in Canadian immigration law that provides a discretionary pathway to permanent residence for individuals who are not eligible to apply for permanent residence through traditional immigration classes

H&C applications are used to request an exemption from certain requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) on the basis of exceptional, humanitarian, or compassionate considerations.

Use H & C Program if you are:

  • In Canada, and

  • Need an exemption from one or more requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) or Regulations in order to apply for permanent residence within Canada.

  • Believe that your circumstances justify humanitarian and compassionate considerations for granting the required exemption(s) for permanent residence.

  • You are not eligible to apply for permanent residence from within Canada in any of these classes:

  • Spouse or Common-Law Partner;

  • Economic Class;

  • Protected Person and Convention Refugees;

  • Temporary Resident Permit Holder.

  • Applying for H&C consideration is an exceptional measure – it is not simply another means of applying for permanent resident status in Canada
