From Admire Immigration – Navigating Your Path to Canada
Are you worried because your status in Canada is about to expire? Whether you're here as a student, worker, or visitor, it’s important to know that you have several pathways to maintain your legal stay, continue your journey, and even strengthen your future immigration prospects.

At Admire Immigration, we understand the stress that comes with uncertainty. That’s why we’re here to guide you through the options available when your temporary status is coming to an end.
1.Extend or Switch to a Study Permit
If you're interested in upgrading your skills, you may consider enrolling in a designated learning institution (DLI) and applying for a study permit. Not only does this keep you in Canada legally, but it can also open pathways to permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or provincial nominee programs (PNPs).
2.Apply for a Work Permit, Depending on your situation, you may qualify for various types of work permits:
LMIA – Based Work Permit (Any Field): Employers can apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to hire you if they prove there's a need for a foreign worker. Once approved, you can apply for a closed work permit tied to that employer.
Caregiver LMIA: If you have experience/training in caregiving or nursing, this is a great option. Canada continues to value caregivers, and this route can lead to PR under caregiver-specific pathways.
Global Talent Dream (GTS): If you're in the tech or specialized field, your employer may be eligible to hire you through the Global Talent Stream, which is faster and prioritized under the Global Skills Strategy.
Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP):Have you already submitted your PR application under Express Entry or another stream? If yes, you may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit to stay and work in Canada while your PR is processed.
Francophone Mobility Work Permit: If you are fluent in French and willing to work in a province outside Quebec, the Francophone Mobility Program allows you to get an open work permit without an LMIA
Spousal Open Work Permit :If your spouse or common-law partner is studying or working in Canada, you may be eligible for an open work permit under their status.
3.Apply for a Visitor Record
If you're not ready to study or work yet, you can apply to stay as a visitor by requesting a visitor record. This allows you to remain in Canada legally, though you won't be allowed to work or study.
4.Gain Experience Abroad to Boost Your CRS Score: Sometimes, stepping back can actually move you forward. If you’re not eligible to extend your stay, consider returning to your home country to gain at least 6 months or one year of skilled work experience in a priority occupation. This could significantly improve your CRS score under Express Entry and make you a stronger candidate for PR in the future
