About the Course
The Access to Practical Nursing program at VCC is a 13-month accelerated pathway for people who already have Health Care Assistant training and recent work experience. It builds on your previous skills so you can become a Licensed Practical Nurse faster. The program includes classroom learning, labs, and several clinical placements, ending with a final preceptorship. It prepares you to write the licensing exam and work as an LPN in hospitals, long-term care, and community settings.

Vancouver Community College (VCC) is a public, post-secondary institution and the largest and oldest community college in British Columbia. Located in Vancouver, VCC offers over 150 certificate, diploma, and post-degree programs designed to be accessible and provide a clear path to employment or further education.
Language Requirement
For the Access to Practical Nursing program at VCC, you must show strong English proficiency. The main requirement is English Studies 12 with at least a B. If you didn’t complete that course, you can meet the requirement through approved English tests. For example, the IELTS Academic scores must be high: 7.0 in speaking, 7.5 in listening, 6.5 in reading, and 7.0 in writing. VCC also accepts CELBAN with similarly high scores for those with a nursing background. Completing at least three years of full-time schooling in an English-speaking country can also satisfy the requirement.
